Still Life - Studies in Brilliant Colour
"Chinese Lanterns"
A real delight for me would be setting up still-life compositions. For thirty-one years as a teacher of drawing and painting, I adored what I was doing with antiques, furniture, pottery, china and fabrics of every colour and texture. Working with young and mature students as they developed, learning to see for the first time, and being an integral part of their development was an absolute joy.
I was learning every day I was teaching. Painting is a personal integral part of my identity.
My personal philosophy is that painting is joyous because it involves colour. Colour is everything to me. I have been defined as an artist and a painter by the title of a colourist.
