France - Painting in the footsteps of Cezanne

Watercolours from France by Canadian Artist and Teacher, Wilma Pinkus
"Town Centre with Fountain"

Our travels to France were a must over a number of years; we spent our summers in Provence. It was absolute heaven.

I have always admired Cezanne, his watercolours are treasures. It was very important for me to travel and paint in his footsteps.

The towns of Uzès, Arles and St. Siffret were where we lived and where I painted. The colours of the wonderful shops and the old world architecture influenced my street scenes.

Our tiny homes that we rented were always amidst vineyards or fields of sunflowers with lavender for fragrance. We dearly loved our travels to France. The local colour of the surroundings was my inspiration.
